2022.01.27 23:18 Thr0w4wayzz 28, stressed, depressed and clueless
I'm 28F, having some shitty feelings and thoughts overcome me lately.
I returned to college to do an access course into health care to get into university, and now i don't know if I want to do it or not. But the thought of dropping out of college makes me feel like a loser and being stuck in my current job, working for a shit company haunts me and absolutely saddens me.
I know, I know, not everyone gets the chance to redo their education, hell some people may not even get an education. But I'm just so unhappy with my life and I feel dumb af, I'm getting okay grades but eh, not without a boat load of stress from the assignments overcoming me, and the worst part? Even with this stress, my lazy af ass still procrastinates.
On top of that, my family and friends think I'm a bitch, like literally, this isn't me thinking this they've said it. I'm not very extroverted and I'm not a fan of most people - they make me anxious and I feel like I'm being judged. My sister flat out told me I need to learn not to be one otherwise I'm gonna be a shit nurse. I'd like to think I'm caring, I've worked in health care for almost five years, supporting children with ASD, as i said prior, the company is shit, but the service users, most are actually the bomb, although some can display extremely challenging behaviour - such as physical aggression, to the point where some staff have had life changing injuries.
I don't feel like I'm smart enough for college. I don't feel like my partner loves me. I don't know what I want to do with my life. My family and friends dislike me. I guess I'm not a kind person, even if I try to be. Guess I'm just shit.

2022.01.27 23:18 FaxedForward Scenic Bay Area drives with interesting stops or good food along the way/at the end?
I'm relatively new to the South Bay (moved here last year) and I bought a convertible to try and make the most out of the pleasant Northern California weather. I live alone and don't really know anyone outside of work so I like to go out for long drives to listen to music try and see the sights and find some interesting things.
I've done a couple of the easy ones; driven Highway 1 from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay and I've gone up to Skyline and enjoyed both Alice's and the Mountain House. I heard taking 130 and stopping at The Junction is a worthwhile adventure so that's on my shortlist, but haven't done it yet.
That being said, there's obviously a ton of California within a short distance, I have little experience with anything north of SF/Oakland, and as a recent transplant I'm sure there's stuff in the South Bay I don't even really know about yet.
So all that said, what are some scenic Bay Area drives where the trip is enjoyable as well as the destination? Any good food or interesting stops worth making a day trip for?

2022.01.27 23:18 latorreverde Books about a general history of Germany and German culture.
Are there good English books about the history of Germany and it’s culture? I’m not interested in a book specifically about Germany’s WWII atrocities or Otto von Bismarck but a very basic summation of German history that for example an elementary German student should know. I’m currently self-studying German and would like to read a book better written than a Wikipedia article

2022.01.27 23:18 emraaa Masters having only 12 teams is incredibly disappointing
For me personally international matches between the top teams has been the most exciting part of the 2021 circuit. There already were way to few matches between the different regions but in 2022 they not only reduced the number of Masters tournaments they even reduced the number of teams.
I absolutely despise the LoL system where only a handful of teams are allowed to compete internationally. And only in two tournaments each year. With this system we will never see a top 5 NA team play vs a top 8 EU team in a VCT tournament. We will never see the 4th best Brazilian team play vs the 3rd best Korean team.
Instead of increasing the number of international matches they are decreasing them even further.

2022.01.27 23:18 wretched_and_divine Developed small invisible bumps all over my face overnight? I'm scared...
I noticed yesterday that the area around my chin that usually breaks out during my hormonal phase was a little more bumpy than usual, so I whipped out a mirror to take a look but couldn't see anything, yet could feel the bumps. I ran my hands across the rest of my face and found that they were all over it. They are small and invisible but can be felt when touched. Is this just hormonal acne? This never happened to me before.

2022.01.27 23:18 wholesomeNEET The Sitcomputer
An alternate title may be "The SitCOM".
As the title may imply, this is a web series concept about the exploits of a cast of animated people who live inside a computer.
Their creator, who they refer to as "The Programmer", often comments on their activities and observes their actions. The cartoon characters can open up windows and travel to different "locations", and/or websites.
They'd all probably resemble teenagers or young adults, but they all have these different quirks about them (for example, there's this busty chick named Ecchi who is actually a dude trapped in a girl's body, as punishment for selling nudes of innocent girls, so (s)he always gets thrown into some embarrassing fanservice moment. There's also Ran, a weeb and pyromaniac, and Sue, a troublemaking/borderline psychotic girl who enjoys killing her friends in different ways, because "they can just respawn, no hard feelings", and she has a crush on Cthulhu, to name a few characters).
So each episode would open up with live-action footage of the Programmer (whose face we never see) turning on his PC and opening up the "program" in which the characters reside. Sometimes things glitch, sometimes they throw parties, sometimes they fight each other, all that wacky stuff.
This would likely be an absurdist comedy, and pays homage to other popular web cartoons such as Eddsworld, Asdfmovie, and The Cyanide & Happiness Show. Some segments may also be animated similarly to the ENA videos are.
Through all of the humor, though, there is an underlying message about overcoming depression and anxiety. Specifically, viewers will notice how socially inept and lonely the Programmer truly is, as he stays inside all day talking to his characters and following their adventures.
This is a very personal idea of mine, as I made it when I was coping with my own issues. I hope you guys are supportive and like the concept. If you took the time to read, thank you.

2022.01.27 23:17 moneymonster420 $BB BlackBerry🍇 - IAM Media "BlackBerry patent sale approaching the now or never point" (Jan 27th)
It’s now five weeks since BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that he expected to reach “a definitive agreement very soon” for the sale to an unnamed buyer of a huge portfolio of the Canadian company’s patents and the licensing business responsible for monetising them. “We will provide shareholders with an update on progress in January,” he stated. As of today, 27 January, that has yet to materialise.
This has been a long, drawn out affair. Back in September 2021, Chen said that he was 80% certain the deal would be concluded by the end of that quarter. But the end of November came and went, and nothing happened. Over the last five months, apart from Chen’s comments on 21 December, the sound of silence has been deafening.
What might be holding the transaction up is not known. But for as long as it is not completed there is a risk that it won’t be.
For BlackBerry and its investors that prospect is not a happy one. IAM has previously reported that the offer the company accepted was the highest it received, and that the deal’s construction is complex, involving multiple financing parties. Should it collapse at this late stage, it would not only deprive BlackBerry of substantial additional bottom line revenue in time for its close of February year-end, but it would also involve starting the entire process from scratch and either deciding not to sell or looking for a new buyer.
The former would mean reviving a largely dormant licensing operation, while the latter would probably take a good deal of time and end up generating a lower sum. After all, who will pay more than they had previously bid for a portfolio when they know that the initially successful party is no longer in the picture?
Having promised news by the end of January, it is hard to believe that Chen will not provide an update one way or another by the end of next Monday. In the meantime, this is what IAM has picked up about the deal’s moving parts:
The portfolio in question is largely made up of patent assets covering what have been described as “non-core or legacy mobile devices, messaging and wireless networking technologies”. The patents are primarily said to be applicable in four areas: social media and messaging; enterprise security; enterprise collaboration; and consumer voice and security.
Many of these patents have already been licensed to major players in the mobile market, mainly as a result of work done by Teletry, the Marconi-owned entity which agreed a deal in 2017 to sub-license BlackBerry’s patents “to a majority of global smartphone manufacturers”.
The price for the portfolio and the accompanying licensing business was agreed with the unnamed buyer a few months ago. The amount is not known. However, a sum of US$450 million has been mentioned by the Globe and Mail, Canada’s leading newspaper.
Although there is a single buyer, which is putting up its own cash, most of the financing for the transaction comes from a variety of sources based in multiple locations using a mix of debt and equity.
BlackBerry will have no onward stake in the portfolio, so will not share in the proceeds from any future monetization efforts.
The transaction has been negotiated at a time when the Canadian government is much more focused on IP than it has been in the past and has been subject to a great deal of regulatory scrutiny.
Given all the complexities, it is not a huge surprise that the deal has taken so long to finalize. However, there does come a point when promises of success no longer cut it and delivery becomes paramount. Observers and, more importantly, BlackBerry’s investors, may feel that time is now. They should know a lot more by close of play on Monday.
